Contemporary architects are either unable to or refuse to come to terms with the changing organism that is the city. From Michelangelo's 'will of man' to the hermetic attitude of the modern man and from there to the contemporary architect, there is a growing disdain towards the city. There is a conscious lucid withdrawal of architecture to strict fields of formal creation and the production of exquisite, culturally significant objects.
But is urbanity made of individual greats?
Should a building be a supreme expression of an individual?
